Evam Stool

About the Item

The Evam stool is made from solid reclaimed teak and carved by hand by a local master craftsman in Udaipur, India. The carving displays the “hexafoil” or “flower of life” pattern which can be found as far back as 6000 years in various cultures etched into walls and onto objects. The pattern has a long history of various meanings, but it most commonly represents protection or the cycle of creation. The legs attach to the sturdy base with a wedged tenon joint, one of the strongest, durable and long lasting joints in furniture. In the corner of a quaint little antique shop, nestled between forgotten relics and dusty curiosities, there stood a hand-carved reclaimed teak stool. It was not an ordinary stool by any means. Crafted with care and dedication, it bore a hexafoil pattern, each curve and line telling a story of its own. To the untrained eye, it seemed nothing more than a piece of furniture, but to those who looked closer, it held the magic of centuries within its grain. From the moment it was brought into existence, the stool knew it was special. The old artisan who carved it, his hands weathered with age, had poured his heart and soul into every stroke, infusing it with a touch of enchantment. As the teak absorbed the stories whispered in the workshop, it soaked up the wisdom of the wood, the craftsmanship, and the love with which it was created. The stool had seen generations come and go, yet it remained a silent witness, observing the world through the window of the antique shop. Each passerby was a fleeting moment, but every now and then, someone would pause, their eyes alighting on the intricate pattern, feeling the pull of something more profound. One breezy morning, the antique shop’s door creaked open, and a young woman stepped inside. Her name was Elara, and she was different. There was a spark in her eyes, a singing in her soul, and the stool sensed it immediately. Elara’s gaze was drawn to the reclaimed teak stool, and as she ran her fingers over the smooth surface, a connection sparked to life. “This one,” she said to the shopkeeper, her voice filled with certainty. As Elara took the stool to her home, it felt a surge of anticipation. Finally, it would fulfill its purpose, it would be more than just a silent observer. Elara placed the stool in her garden, beneath the spreading branches of an old oak tree. In the dappled sunlight, the stool felt alive. Days turned into weeks, and Elara would spend hours sitting on the stool, running her fingers over the hexafoil pattern, lost in thought. The stool, now, was more than just an object; it became her confidant, her companion in solitude, and her solace in moments of joy and sorrow. Under the waxing moon, as the night creatures sang their lullabies, something extraordinary happened. The hexafoil pattern on the stool began to glow with a soft, ethereal light. The magic woven into its fibers stirred, awakening after centuries of dormancy. It reached out to Elara, touching her soul, and in that moment, she understood. With a gentle touch, she traced the pattern with her finger, and the world around her shimmered and shifted. The garden, once familiar, transformed into a lush, vibrant forest. Trees whispered ancient secrets, and fireflies danced in the air, leaving trails of light in their wake. Elara smiled, her heart brimming with wonder. She looked down at the little teak stool, now adorned with flowers and ivy, and realized the depth of its magic. It wasn’t just a stool; it was a gateway to another realm, a place where dreams and reality intertwined. From that night on, Elara and the stool embarked on countless adventures, their bond growing stronger with each passing day. They journeyed through enchanted forests, soared among the stars, and delved into the depths of the ocean. Together, they discovered the magic hidden within the world and within themselves. And so, the hand-carved teak stool with the hexafoil pattern found its purpose, not just as a piece of furniture, but as a conduit for magic, love, and endless possibility. And in the heart of the garden, beneath the old oak tree, it stood as a silent guardian, ready to whisk away anyone who dared to believe in its enchantment.
