Style: George IV
Rare Early 19th Century Child's Windsor Armchair
Located in Middleburg, VA
Rare Child's Windsor Armchair. Made predominantly of yew wood and ash with a figured elm seat. Simple turned legs over "Crinoline" shaped stretchers. Beautiful color and a deep patina. Made in Buckinghamshire, England circa 1820. A rare and exceptionally well-preserved child's Windsor armchair, crafted in Buckinghamshire, England circa 1820. The hooped back is flanked by hand-turned spindles, flowing gracefully into shaped arms supported by balustar-turned arm supports. The seat is deeply sculpted and retains a warm, timeworn patina, showcasing the natural beauty of the elm. Below, simple turned legs are joined by an elegant crinoline stretcher- a particularly desirable detail in children's Windsor chairs...
