A large fully glazed shop display cabinet, ebonized hardwood with gilt highlights/decoration, late 19th century.
Adjustable bronze internal shelving, velvet covered base.
Manufactured by Frederick Sage & Co shop fitters of London, started in 1860. Sage was involved in many important retail commissions in Britain, such as the great London department stores of Harrods, Dickins & Jones and D. H. Evans
The cabinet has age related wear, some light surface abrasions to the glass and losses to the gilding,
circa 1880 in age with a nod in style to the Aesthetic movement.
On the reverse, one hinged door the other sliding, both removable for transportation. The top decorative pelmet is also easily removable.
