Kaona dining table by Henka Lab Limited Edition Dimensions: H 75 x W 122 x L 240 cm Materials: solid Iroko wood, oil, natural wax finish Weight: 80 Kg Series limited to 100 signed and numbered copies. Kaona table arises as an investigation of circular and elliptical geometries through a very simple conceptual sequence of stretching transformations. An ellipse is obtained enlarging a circle, creating a bigger functional surface. By stretching four points of this new geometry four legs start to grow, becoming a new living object. By doing so, the dining area is conveniently lifted from the floor, solving it's structural and functional requirements. Henka: From Japanese ?? “to change into”. Lab: A room or building where experimentation and research take place. HenkaLab is an award winning studio where shape experimentation takes place. Inspired by nature, my work emulates evolutionary processes, subjecting pure geometries to certain tensions, obtaining new living forms that fit a specific use. Each piece produced through this process has been patiently hand-shaped and crafted to the highest standards. Signed and numbered limited pieces. Pablo Vidiella...
