A rare and finely carved Anglo-Indian - Ceylonese solid ebony and padouk wall bracket / shelve from the Galle district.
Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), circa 1830
Constructed from solid ebony, the finely carved rectangular upstand boarding an inset solid padouk top above a pierced foliate scrollwork apron depicting carved dragon heads to either end.
The top is held by three shaped ebony supports, having a square central column terminating on a floral rose carved relief.
In excellent condition this unique wall shelve has been carefully restored and wax polished to be ready for use.
