About the Item

A rare and exquisite pair of early 19th century French children’s chairs, attributed to the period of Georges Jacob. Crafted in light mahogany, the chairs feature pegged construction and retain a beautiful aged patina that speaks to their history. The seats and backs are upholstered in luxurious Scalamandre silk and cotton velvet, finished with antique nailhead trim and gimp, combining period authenticity with refined decorative appeal. The filling is traditional horsehair, consistent with early 19th century craftsmanship. Remarkably well preserved, these chairs represent both fine French cabinetmaking and the enduring charm of miniature furniture, making them an exceptional addition for collectors of French antiques or decorative arts. Seat height is 12.5".
