This outstanding Art Nouveau buckle in the shape of a peacock feather has been designed and executed by Piel Frères, Paris around 1900. An identical buckle is published in Vivienne Becker's book 'Fabulous Fakes', page 91, Grafton Books 1988. The same buckle, executed in silver, is published in 'Pariser Schmuck', catalogue of the exhibition of the same name page 275. That catalogue describes the buckle as ' a peacockfeather with short quill, the eye of the feather is represented by a kidney shaped blue glas cabochon on green green shimmering metal foil'.
