Vintage Persian Tabriz Mahi Rug in Geometric Pattern in Ivory, Burgundy, Gray
Located in Barrington, IL
Discover a true masterpiece of Persian weaving with this magnificent Mid-20th Century Vintage Persian Tabriz "Mahi" Room-Size Rug, meticulously hand-knotted in the 3rd quarter of the 1900s by one of the finest artisan workshops in the city of Tabriz, Northwest Persia. Tabriz rugs are renowned for their exceptional fineness, intricate detailing, and sophisticated designs, and this piece is a brilliant embodiment of that tradition. This captivating rug is highly distinguished by its very rare and highly desirable ivory color field, which provides a luminous and expansive canvas. This serene background brings the timeless beauty of the classic "Mahi" (or Herati) design to life, a celebrated pattern known for its repeating rosette-within-diamond motif, often referred to as "fish" due to its graceful flow. A striking red border elegantly frames the composition, creating a beautiful contrast that enhances the rug's visual impact and classical grandeur. Adding further depth and unique character, the corners are subtly adorned with harmonious accents in both dark and light chocolate tones, which beautifully complement the primary colors. While the iconic "Mahi" design is often copied and adapted in various weaving centers both within and outside Persia, it is a significant challenge to find a true masterpiece that captures the consummate refinement, quality, and authentic spirit exemplified by this beautiful Tabriz rug. Its exceptional craftsmanship, rare color palette, and revered design make it a standout piece. Antique Ghiordes Yastik Anatolian Rug
Located in Evanston, IL
Explore the legacy of Anatolian rugs, a term that encompasses the rich tapestry of carpets woven in Anatolia and its surrounding regions. Geographically, this area aligns with the historical dominion of the Ottoman Empire, a territory where the art of rug-making flourished. In ancient Anatolia, where harsh winters were a reality, ingenious weavers turned to the abundant resource of lamb's wool to craft thick-pile rugs that provided both warmth and comfort. Over millennia, this tradition evolved and was carried forth by nomadic Turks, eventually leaving an indelible mark on human culture and society. Vintage Kurdish Area Rug in Prayer Pattern in Camelhair, Brick, Navy, Lavender
Located in Barrington, IL
Vintage Kurdish tribal area rug in the "Prayer" pattern in camelhair, terracotta, navy circa the early 1900s. The camelhair field of the rug has three main designs. There is a border surrounding the main field in a beautiful pistachio color. The color can be seen better in the photo of the rug. The green natural dye color is very difficult to produce and is very sensitive to light. We also love the purple color of the rug. The simplicity in the design and the minimalist form make this an ideal rug to be used on the wall as display art.
