Apartment – Gallery

Apartment by Isabelle Stanislas Architecture in Paris, FR

A space for living and exhibiting, this apartment is located at the heart of Paris in the second arrondissement. Spread over two locations – a 17th century building and a 19th century loft – the concept for this home was to create a progression from the older space to the newer, with the installation of a ‘Versailles style’ parquet, with straight panels ranging in shade from dark to light. Each space has its own character: the 17thcentury half features a Lebrun ceiling painting restored by Isabelle herself, whilst the 19th century loft features a garden and a terrace.

Where the older space is characterized by wall and ceiling moldings, the newer space is based on a palette of concrete, steel, and cork. Bridging the two centuries is a carefully curated collection of contemporary art, creating a dialogue between the past, the present, and the future.
