Apartment by MHLI in New York, NY

Inspired by Henri Rousseau's 'The Dream', this 47th- story pied-a-terre just off Manhattan's Columbus Circle is replete with custom and vintage furnishings, integrated millwork and site-specific implementations to optimize its restrictive volumes and showcase dynamic works of contemporary art by Raymond Hendler, Larry Zox, Jeff Zimmerman, Kelly Lamb and the Haas Brothers. In the narrow living room overlooking the Hudson River, an evergreen silk velvet sofa is set between terrazzo end tables within a white oak storage cabinet and HVAC cover. In the dining nook adjacent to an austere Carrara marble kitchen, an MHLI-designed bronze table and nude leather banquette paired with Jacques Guillon's walnut cord chairs evoke a forest grove. The guest bedroom's mammoth 5-foot-wide sliding bronze mirrored door reflects a BDDW tweed upholstered headboard and cantilevered nightstands, visually doubling the room's proportions and disguising the closet behind. A built-in dressing table occupies a windowed corner of the expansive primary suite rendered in calming hues.
