Farmhouse Redux

Country House by Dessins, Penny Drue Baird in Bucks County, PA

Once a barn now a retreat from the hectic pace of city living, this previously derelict structure incorporates whimsy with curios from different cultures and countries to be a study in sustainability and re-cycling. Kitchen cabinets were fashioned from old crates and barn siding, stairs from old iron etc. Alas, the pool table is new.

The barn was created with two sets of stair; one hidden to access 2 sleeping lofts for guests.

The large central space of the barn was divided into discrete functional spaces by means of architectural features leaving the impression of a huge space which is at once, open and separated.

The inside of the barn which had been protected from elements was re-used on the exterior; the interior was created with new materials.
