Restaurant by Léo Terrando Studio in Cremorne, AU
Léo’s latest project with the Reymond family – this time for the three Reymond children – is a Cremorne restaurant and bar designed to operate virtually around the clock. Occupying the ground floor of a modern office building, the restaurant and bar demonstrate a skilful blend of the everyday with the theatrical – of utilitarian concrete with far more lavish elements.
Set against this background, are antique mirrors, Thonet bentwood chairs, marbles in various hues, and a modernist chandelier. Other materials, used judiciously, include cork, rattan and pale green leather.
Details such as intricate mosaic flooring and a concertinaed screen of photographically printed linen add layers of complexity to the design and reveal themselves gradually.
