Hamptons Mid-Century Mix with a View

Beach House by Vicente Wolf Associates, Inc. in NY, US

With his usual flair, Vicente Wolf created this 5600 square foot, two-story weekend home overlooking Mecox Bay in Watermill, Long Island for a couple and their 3 children. The home, originally built in the late 1970’s, had a very traditional slant with moldings, door trim, mullioned windows and small, compartmentalized rooms. Wolf and his design team reinvented the interior

to an open, modern lifestyle for the young family who entertain a great deal and enjoy just hanging out together. Aside from a total design overhaul, the heart of the renovation essentially involved opening the rooms on the main floor into one contiguous

space. The drama of the entry that opens up into a grand 3-in-one room was devised to maximize the heavenly views of Mecox Bay is one to behold. Sleek, Nano accordion doors were installed, ceilings were lacquered, and the small, mullioned windows were replaced by single glass panes, with one as large as 16’ W x 8’ H – all to emphasize the heavenly views.
