Heritage Home
When the owners purchased a bucolic parcel of land, they imagined eventually building a home to accommodate their growing family. Several years and five young children later, the couple embarked on their forever home with architect Asher Slaunwhite & Partners and interior designers, Bergman Vass. A collaborative team, they worked towards creating a lovely, welcoming homebase that would accommodate an ever evolving lifestyle. The goal was to provide a special place the family could grow into and define; a place for bookbags and sports equipment and lots of friends; a place where memories are made.
While the program for the home is expansive and includes a large pantry, capacious mud room, fully equipped indoor and outdoor sports courts, and a pool with cabana, the owners wanted their home to exude a sense of ease and togetherness. Bergman Vass achieves warmth and elegant calm in tonal shades of blue and green that appear in textiles, art, and natural stone. Plaster adds character and patina to soften the appearance of new construction. Beautiful details, paneling and millwork add interest and the finishes, furniture, and fabrics can withstand the practicalities of everyday life. Bergman Vass devised homey, enticing bedrooms for the children with built-in nooks and shelving. A curved plaster stair with iron railing adds a refined sculptural element while a curated collection of artwork is found throughout. Enthusiasts for collecting art for their clients, Bergman Vass not only sources artwork to compliment an interior, they build a meaningful collection for the owners to enjoy and pass along to the next generation.
