Hill House V

Family Home by The Archers in US

A compact two-story hillside mid-century received an extensive and thoughtful remodel; the only original elements to survive are the burnished block central fireplace core and the steel beams and window frames. A luxe materials palette elevates the house without obliterating its eccentricities, while all new systems and conveniences, including a screening room, bring the house into the 21st Century. Maintaining certain original elements, such as the decorative window screens which are water-cut aluminum copies of the plastic originals and the sconces which we restored to their original quality. Particular attention was devoted to architectural materials including custom oyster-colored triangular cement tile flooring, Western Red Cedar ceilings, American Black Walnut and rift-sawn White Oak monolithic volumes, high-gloss laminate cabinetry, custom ceramic tile bathrooms, and even stained glass paneling.
