Hotel Saint Marc

Hotel by DIMORESTUDIO in FR

On a site once occupied by the palace of Duca di Choiseul, the guest rekindles an aquintance with a building constructed in 1791 whose history has followed that of Paris. It was here, when it housed the headquarters of the newspaper "Le National" founded by Adolphe Thiers, that an important protest was written and published on 27th July 1830 against the orders of July, the spark that triggered the revolution of 1830 called the Three Glorious.

In the twentieth century, the palace was home to the famous Italian restaurant Le Poccardi, where it is believed Raoul Villain dined on 31st July 1914, before assassinating Jean Jaurès a short distance from caffè del Croissant d’Or.

After being used for some time as offices, the building was purchased in 2013 by Nadia Murano and Denis Nourry, to whom we owe l'Hôtel du Petit Moulin designed by Christian Lacroix in 2005. The selection of Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci of DIMORESTUDIO was a considered choice as they wanted to conserve the heritage of the building, creating a strong dialogue between past and present, thanks to the use of iconic objects designed by famous historical designers, along with other salvaged pieces and newly designed custom made furniture.
