Pacific Heights Pops

Apartment by Regan Baker Design in San Francisco, CA

Our clients were awaiting the arrival of their first child when they purchased this newly-renovated, 2,400 square foot condo in the heart of San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood. With an open floor plan, beautiful, modern finishes and inviting, south-facing windows the space had big potential to be a cozy family home. With dynamic careers in the tech industry, our clients needed a comfortable home where they could easily work from home, host gatherings or spend quality time as a family. We joined the project to help them infuse the space with furnishings and decorative additions that seamlessly blend their individual styles. Our client really loves whimsical pattern—especially designs by Rifle Paper—as well a soft color palettes. Her husband’s taste leans more masculine and mid-century modern—a classic black Eames lounge chair was at the top of his must-haves list.! Ultimately this pairing made for a well-balanced project; it’s a combination that keeps things happy and relaxed. The floral patterns and subtle pastels are tempered beautifully by the use of bold, masculine pieces and those heavier, design classics feel a bit more upbeat around sunny yellow and pale rose tones. Throughout the home we incorporated unique artwork. The couple spotted Matthieu Venot’s colorful architectural photography and knew it would be the perfect reminder of their time spent in Los Angeles. In the living area, master bedroom and nursery we sourced sculptural, textile pieces from a range of artists. We commissioned a custom, mustard yellow wall-hanging from Windy Chien for the wall over the living room sofa. Our client works for a tech mapping company and the linear, interweaving nature of Windy’s work appeals to her because it reminds her of the undulating lines of a map.
