Rêve

Family Home by Stewart + Stewart Design in Sydney, AU

The client's brief was to create a fantasy, that upon entering the home they left the world behind. The result is an extraordinary maximalist masterpiece that blurs the boundaries of reality.

Adventurous trips across the globe were made to collect, curate and commission installations. We worked closely with teams of artisans including renowned coquillage artist, Thomas Boog who was commissioned for the hand laid meticulous shellwork for the Portico Entry and Powder Room. We collaborated with Baz Luhrmann's scenic artists, The Painters Guild, to hand gild dimensional foliage and create murals throughout the home.

The Kitchen, the hearth of the home is crowned by the Grand Palais by La Cornue. The room is laced with cast coral branches of burnished copper. Undulating brass hardware crafted by an artisan in Spain accessorises the deeply moulded timber paneling. Suspended from the coffered copper ceiling is a canopy of a hundred flowers of Swarovski coffee and blue crystal, budding from an iron branch commissioned for the island, casting glimmering shadows.

Pairs of custom iron doors invite you to the dramatic Formal Dining room, featuring a breathtaking antique Venetian chandelier, sourced at Clignancourt in Paris. Tony Duquette chairs are anchored by the Alexander McQueen Military Brocade rug, who gave permission to modify the ground from gold to pewter.

Amethyst rock crystal was featured throughout the Master Suite highlighted with a pair of exceptional Baldi bathtubs, antique chandelier, feature walls and vines climbing the custom Entry + Juliette balcony doors.

The seamless blend of artisanal craftsmanship, luxurious materials personally sourced globally by Principal Designer Patricia Stewart, and a myriad of highly detailed features, have created not just a residence, but a personalised work of livable art.
