SOMA Loft

Apartment by Fisher Weisman Brugioni in San Francisco, CA

Fantasy creations by Andrew Fisher fill the space and live comfortably with antiques and objects collected on his travels. An over-scaled tapestry Fisher crafted from used Chemex coffee filters hangs above the living room sofa. Another focal point of that space is a fantasy secretary he created with a canopy of gesso-covered linen, sculpted coral fretwork and oyster shells. Vintage side chairs continue the theme with sculpted coral lattice backs, oyster shells, and drapery skirts made rigid with layers of gesso and paint. Throughout the loft, Fisher created moments of total whimsy. He crafted the chandelier that hangs above the dining table, for example, with elements of a vintage Philippine macrame plant hanger, tart tins, wooden dowels, copper toilet tank floats, and countless seashells. The richly eccentric pieces create a dramatic effect against the quiet backdrop of the otherwise simple, modern space.
