Sunsest Kitchen
Family Home by Shiny Shed Collective in San Francisco, CA
While renovating the kitchen in this classic 1930’s single-family home, we wanted to preserve the home's character while enhancing its practicality and aesthetics. We opened up the existing space by removing the pony walls and raising the ceiling. We also brought in a much larger skylight to help brighten the room.
We made sure to include some material choices that pay homage to the Spanish style of the home, including unglazed octagon terracotta clay tiles behind the stove. We also introduced an arched doorway leading from the kitchen to the dining room, mimicking the arches used in the rest of the home.
