How can you tell real Bakelite?
1 Answer

To make sure your jewelry is authentic Bakelite there are a few different tests. You can dip the item in hot water or create friction and the item should have a chemical smell of formaldehyde. Another test, if you rub a cotton swab dipped in baking soda on a test spot (back, inside etc) and if the swab turns yellow it is authentic.
