Is a lithograph a real painting?
1 Answer

No, a lithograph is not a real painting. Lithographs are more painterly than other types of prints but are not actual paintings. Making a lithograph begins by drawing or painting on a stone surface with an oil-based substance. The stone is then covered with water, which is repelled by the oily areas. Oil-based ink is subsequently applied to the wet stone, adhering only to the oily image. The stone is then covered with a sheet of paper and run through a press.
