What happened between Tom Ford and Gucci may never be completely known by the public. When Ford and Gucci president Domenico De Sole left the company after failing to agree on the renewal of their contracts in 2004, insiders reported that their exits were due to money. Simply put, Ford and De Sole may have wanted more money than the Italian fashion house was willing to pay. However, years later, Ford said that his departure had nothing to do with his pay and instead occurred because he wanted full creative control and was unable to obtain it.
