An established artist is a professional artist who is recognized by his pairs (fellow professional artists) and the art community (professional dealers, art critics, etc.) for the quality of his/her work.

Established artists have created work for a long period of time usually exhibiting the work on a regular basis. They have created bodies of work that are recognizably competent and consistent with someone who has knowledge of materials.
