Pointillism is a painting technique which uses small dots of color to create an image when examined from afar. The technique was developed by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, branching off from Impressionism.

Pointillism is a style of painting or printmaking using dots or squares to create a larger image. The viewers brain connects the dots of color to see the larger image intended by the artist. "Dot painting" by Australian Aboriginal artists is also included in this style of art.
