What is the difference between 10k and 14k gold?

The difference between 10K and 14K gold is how much of the metal's content is pure gold versus alloy metal. 14K gold is 58.3% pure gold and 41.7% alloy, while 10K gold is 41.7% pure gold and 58.3% alloy. Due to the increased amount of alloy metal, 10K gold tends to be stronger than 14K. On the other hand, the increased gold content of 14K gives the metal a richer color and a generally higher value.
