What is traditional printmaking?
Traditional printmaking is an art form that involves producing images by transferring a work of art from a matrix made of wood, metal, glass or another material onto another surface. The term encompasses a few techniques, including woodcut, etching, engraving, lithography and screen printing. Many well-known artists have engaged in traditional printmaking. Some of the famous producers of traditional prints include Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.
