What were Egyptian masks called?

Egyptian masks are normally just called death masks because they were used during funeral rituals. Some historians refer to them as funerary masks. To create the mask, Egyptian artisans used papyrus or linen soaked in plaster. The material is known as cartonnage. You'll find a variety of Egyptian masks on 1stDibs.
