When was Bakelite made?
1 Answer

Bakelite was the world’s first synthetic plastic, patented in 1909 and very popular until the middle of the 20th century. Other plastics began to gain popularity in the late 1940s, but the retro appeal of bakelite objects make them very collectable today. On 1stDibs, you’ll find a collection of antique bakelite from some of the world’s top sellers.
