Chilean Liquid Abstraction Color Swirl Acrylic Polymer Eduardo Guelfenbein
Located in Surfside, FL
Eduardo Guelfenbein (Chilean, 1953- ) is a Latin American painter who was born in Santiago, Chile, educated in England and Italy, who has lived in Paris, France, since 2003. He started out as a figurative painter and was led to abstraction in late 2000. His soulful liquid abstractions and thick acrylic textured canvases, accompanied by a full color palette, reveal a process of discovery of infinite patterns and forms that much resemble a cosmic creation. His patterns may at first seem accidental, but in fact, meticulous color strokes over layers of varnish, deliver a luminescent visual panorama. His works are busting fluid lines and swirls, depicting patterns that seem to be infinite and create a sense of continuous movement. They bear an affinity to the works of American pop art artist Kenny Scharf. Eduardo Gulfenbein was born in Santiago, Chile, to parents of Russian and Polish origin. He attended Embley Park School, Hampshire, UK (1965–1969) and King's School, Rochester, Kent, UK (1969–1971). In 1971 he realized the backdrops for Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Rochester Cathedral's first musical presentation. 1965/69 - Embley Park School Hampshire Great Britain, 1969/71 - Kings School Rochester Kent Great Britain, In 1973–1977 he studied fine arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti Brera, Milan, Italy, graduating with the Diploma di Licenza Accademia in 1977. In 1978, he moved to Sydney, Australia. In 1985, he returned to Europe, settling between Milan and Paris where he resides as of 2016. His vibrant colorful work has appeared in exhibitions internationally, including a solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Santiago in 1997. Large Color California Abstract Expressionist Copolymer Vinyl Painting Ron Davis
Located in Surfside, FL
Ronald Davis (American, b. 1937) Pitch, 1983 cel-vinyl copolymer on canvas Hand signed verso and further inscribed with title, date, size and PTG 751 67 x 110 1/2in. Framed 69 x 112in. Bears remnants of old gallery label to reverse. Ronald Ron Davis (born 1937) is an American painter whose work is associated with geometric abstraction, abstract illusionism, lyrical abstraction, hard-edge painting, shaped canvas painting, color field painting, and 3D computer graphics. He is a veteran of nearly seventy solo exhibitions and hundreds of group exhibitions. Born in Santa Monica, California, he was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1955–56 he attended the University of Wyoming. In 1959 at the age of 22 he became interested in painting. In 1960–64 he attended the San Francisco Art Institute. Abstract expressionism, the prevailing artistic movement of the time, would have an influence on many of his future works. In 1962 he was a Yale-Norfolk Summer School Grantee. In 1963 his paintings became hard-edged, geometric and optical in style, and by 1964 his works were shown in important museums and galleries. He lived and worked in Los Angeles, 1965–71, and in Malibu, California, 1972–90. Since 1991 he has lived and worked in Arroyo Hondo on the outskirts of Taos, New Mexico. Ronald Davis from the earliest days of his career had a significant impact on contemporary abstract painting of the mid-1960s. According to art critic Michael Fried: Ron Davis is a young California artist whose new paintings, recently shown at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery in New York, are among the most significant produced anywhere during the past few years, and place him, along with Frank Stella and Walter Darby Bannard, at the forefront of his generation. He had his first one-person exhibition at the Nicholas Wilder Gallery in Los Angeles in 1965. Barbara Rose wrote an in depth essay about Davis' paintings of the 1960s in the catalogue accompanying an exhibition of his Dodecagon Series in 1989 in Los Angeles. Among other observations she wrote: Davis saw a way to use Marcel Duchamp's perspective studies and transparent plane in The Large Glass for pictorial purposes. Instead of glass, he used fiberglass to create a surface that was equally transparent and detached from any illusion of reality. Because his colored pigments are mixed into a fluid resin and harden quickly, multiple layers of color may be applied without becoming muddy. his is essentially an inversion of Old Master layering and glazing except that color is applied behind rather than on top of the surface. Alone among his contemporaries, Davis was equally concerned with traditional problems of painting: space, scale, detail, color relationships and illusions as he was with the California emphasis on hi-tech craft and industrial materials. His work has some connection to the Light and Space art movement related to op art and minimalism. He was a contemporary of Peter Alexander, Larry Bell, Robert Irwin, Ron Cooper...

Soft Blue Discs
Located in Fairlawn, OH
Soft Blue Discs Acrylic/polymer on masonite, 1976 Signed by the artist in pencil lower right: LD Cantine (see photo) Signed, titled, dated verso (see photo) Canadian painter Cantine has spent his career exploring the role of color in painterly image construction Condition: Excellent Painting size: 12 x 15 inches Provenance: Kraushaar Galleries (lebl, see photo) "David Cantine (born 1939) is a Canadian painter, best known for consistently painting pictures using the same composition for the last forty years of his career. Cantine was born in Jackson, Michigan, and went to school at the University of Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962, and a Master of Arts degree in 1964. In 1965 he began teaching drawing and painting at the University of Alberta, until retiring from his position in 1996. Cantine's work in the beginning of his career was figurative art, but he began to experiment with abstraction in the 1970s, and in 1975 became inspired by a photograph of a pair of apples casting round shadows. This compositional structure became the basis for the minimalist, post-painterly abstraction David Cantine is best known for. David Cantine's paintings are in a number of collections, including the Art Gallery of Alberta, the University of Alberta, the Christopher Cutts Gallery, the Francis Winspear Centre for Music, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the Masur Museum of Art." Courtesy Wikipedia "David Cantine’s highly recognizable compositions of coloured circles below Plexiglas have been the painter’s primary pursuit for 45 years of his impressive painting career spanning almost six decades. What originally began as a still-life of apples and their shadows evolved into the present abstract imagery of four circles and seven colours. Motivated by the use of “structural colour instead of descriptive colour,” David Cantine continues to explore variations on this minimalist theme. Since the early 2000s, he has also explored a more painterly form of colourful abstracted still-life, with echoes of inspiration from Giorgio Morandi. Born in Jackson, Michigan, Cantine received his Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa before permanently relocating to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He taught Drawing at the University of Alberta for over thirty years and has been featured multiple times at the Art Gallery of Alberta, in the Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art, and most recently in Soak, Stripe, Splatter. His work has been exhibited in 24 solo exhibitions and 37 group shows and can also be found in the following collections: Masur Museum, Louisiana; Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Ontario; Art Gallery of Alberta; University of Alberta FAB Gallery; Simons; Alberta Art Foundation; Hewlett-Packard; The Sims...
