James Henderson’s work explores the concept of memory and nostalgia. Utilizing found imagery as a starting point, he collages and layers his mixed media paintings. The inclusion of imagery from vintage photographs becomes Henderson’s visual language through which to depict the notion of how one’s past experiences, emotions and personal archeology greatly shape one’s identity. "Blackburian Warbler" is a black and white artwork made from asphalt on cement and plaster mounted on wood panel. Atlanta-based artist, Tim Hunter’s work stems from his love of nature and concern for the environment. In 2003 he began working primarily with images of birds as an expression of his spiritual connection with nature. After reading an article about the declining bird populations in Georgia, he turned his focus to environmental issues. An avid bird watcher, Tim also experienced the heavily wooded area he grew up in, slowly reduced to shopping malls and subdivisions. He uses asphalt and cement to create his works which refer to the loss of habitat due to human expansion, which is one of the main causes of declining bird populations. His silhouettes are taken from Audubon’s series “Birds of America” which references a period in the past when the bird populations in America were more abundant. Tim received a BFA in printmaking from California College of Arts, Oakland, CA and an MFA in painting from Georgia State...

Even for the rare administration tackling the problems of homelessness in an effective, meaningful way, the homeless person’s humanity is buried beneath a mountain of endless statistical markers: mental illness, substance abuse, soup-kitchen attendance, etc. The enormous negativity lingering about the resultant profile permits scant room for other, arguably important accoutrements of the human experience—character, emotion, intellect, beauty, relationship to divinity—and leaves homeless persons basically where they already are: on the street, the objects of middle-class loathing or pity.
