Part of Burton Morris’ Chanel Series, Chanel Purse transforms the iconic language of luxury fashion into a sculptural work of contemporary pop art. The composition centers on the unmistakable Chanel name rendered in shimmering diamond dust against a deep black field, while layered silver chains cascade across the surface to form the silhouette of a handbag. The work moves beyond traditional painting, functioning simultaneously as image, object, and fashion reference.
Historically, Pop Art elevated everyday consumer imagery into cultural symbols through bold graphic clarity and repetition. Artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein translated mass-produced imagery into visual statements reflecting the rise of modern consumer culture.
