About the Item
Art is and has always been at the very center of my life. In creating I find communication and connection with others that surpasses any barrier or boundary. Through imagery, I can conjure moods, thoughts or even memories unique to the viewer. My purpose for being an artist is to inspire and explore. I aim to ignite creativity in others with my work.
Within the figurative paintings I portray a narrative that is both personal and universal. Creating a series of paintings depicting a person's realizations of self through life's course is the subject I explore. For the last few years, I have been researching and experimenting with use of symbols from classical artwork. For example, in using specific flora, colors or objects, I am able to tap into historical tradition. By layering symbolic elements in paintings with figures, I have enjoyed creating visual stories that upon closer inspection reveal mysteries. Each painting explores moments of transition or actualization that a woman specifically encounters at different times in life. I find this project important for creating a connection and sense of togetherness for women across cultures and ages. I would like to highlight various elements of both the feminine and masculine in the wide range of women.
