Large Naturalist Oil on Board, Papaver Orientale, Poppies in a Vase

Located in Cotignac, FR

Large Naturalist oil on board still life of poppies in a jar by Eduard Bauer-Bredt. The painting is signed and dated bottom left and signed, titled and with exhibition number to the back board. Presented in a deep patinated custom frame. A magnificent, lovely bright, cheery and impactful floral still life. Bauer-Bredt has used brush and knife to create a wonderful atmospheric rendition of freshly picked poppies in a large ceramic jar. The pinks and reds of the flowers sing against the more subtle taupe hues of the jar and the green of the foliage. A really lovely composition beautifully rendered in the tradition of Edouard Manet, Fantin Lantour and Leon Dabo. The artist Eduard Bauer-Bredt began his artistic studies in Ansbach. He became a pupil of the Orientalist painter Ferdinand Max Bredt...

This charming painting depicts a group of gentlemen gathered around a kitchen table and admiring an English Setter. The snowy rooftops, just visible from the kitchen window, combined with the lit fire and holly decorating the picture frames in the room, implies that this is a Christmas scene. It also appears that the gentlemen have just returned from a fox hunt, and are now warming themselves, drinking port and smoking long pipes by the fire. Five men — three gathered behind the table and two standing in front — are identically dressed in long black riding boots...

The person who follows the Sun will not stray from the path. No matter how difficult the moments life throws at you, when it seems like everything is becoming dull and gloomy. But you will overcome it, for there is a sun shining within you. And when you feel its benevolent influence on your life, you start to notice the manifestations of the sun more and more often - in the glints of light in your beloved's hair, in the sunbeams on the pavement, in the changes of light and shadow in the park.
