Petite Cheesecake

Petite Cheesecake

By Sarah Lamb

Located in Sag Harbor, NY

A Still life painting of a small cheesecake, adorned with strawberries, blueberries, and cream. Placed upon a layer of parchment paper, against a grey backdrop. Sarah Lamb is known for her poetic still lifes that utilize classical painting techniques, yet are very contemporary in mood. Framed dimensions: 17 x 25 inches Sarah Lamb is a talented and dynamic realist painter. With classical skill—and through transparency, depth and texture—she captures the minute details of everyday objects in her dramatic still lifes and luscious landscapes. She makes us love the familiar and see beauty in the mundane. Born in Petersburg, VA, with a passion for art and an appreciation for the past, Sarah spent a semester at the Studio Art Center International in Florence, Italy before graduating from Brenau Women’s College with a BS degree in Studio Art in 1993. Following a summer workshop in Santa Fe, NM with renowned classical painter Jacob Collins, she spent two years painting at The Ecole Albert Defois in the Loire Valley with classical realist artist Ted Seth Jacobs. In 1997 she moved to New York and spent the next 6 years studying and painting under Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier. During this time, she had successful one-woman shows in major galleries in Atlanta, Houston, and San Francisco and was represented in art galleries in Alexandria, VA, St. Simon’s Island and Gainesville, GA, Sag Harbor, NY and Madison, CT. More recently, she has had sell-out, one-woman shows at the Spanierman Gallery in NY, the Meredith Long Gallery in Houston, TX and the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco. She has been featured in magazines such as American Artists, American Art Collector and Southwest Art as one of America’s most talented young painters. British-born art critic, John A. Parks, wrote that “Sarah Lamb brings to her work a robustly sensual grasp of the world. Her keenness of eye and joyful brush make the whole enterprise feel freshly alive as she reminds us what the really wonderful things in life are.” Sarah splits her time between Houston, Texas and in Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley with her husband, artist, David Larned...

"Still Life with Architectural Columns and Pear" by Leon Olmo 31 x 52 inches

"Still Life with Architectural Columns and Pear" by Leon Olmo 31 x 52 inches

By Leon Olmo

Located in Atlanta, GA

Item is in excellent condition and has only been displayed in a gallery setting. With frame dimensions are approximately 44" x 64" Leon Olmo was born in Moron de la Frontera at the end of the 1940's beginning at a young age to study drawing and wax technique. From heightened stimulation incredible still-lifes are produced from the nearby aromas of lemons, jasmine, pomegranates, and medlars, fruits which often appear throughout his paintings. Olmo is a self-taught painter, reaching the status as one of Seville’s most talented artists through strict perseverance in drawing and painting. Working until complete exhaustion, Olmo attempts to capture all of himself with every image he creates. For Olmo, neatness and cleanliness go hand in hand when creating a work of art. Though he denies traditional academicism, Olmo does utilize a methodical approach in each painting that begins with strict preparation of the fibrapan board upon which he paints. Beginning with a primer composed of calcium sulfate and glue, he sands the board’s surface until smooth. This regimented routine is in accord with Olmo’s insistence of maintaining neatness and cleanliness for he has rejected the use of canvas where any imperfection is not up to standard. He then picks juicy fresh fruits from their trees and retrieves wooden boards from a collection that he has acquired over the years during walks with his father. Arranging the objects for the desired effect, the outcome will be a play of shadows between the background and brilliant center of the composition. With the brush he draws simple motifs and leaves layers of paint until he achieves a magic luminosity, where the observer can actually see through space, a transparent quality distinctly from the hand of Olmo. The recreation of natural elements in his paintings is to remind the observer of humanity’s material nature. The symbolic use of jasmine is special to the artist, in order to represent the grandeur of small things, six petals with an incredible scent which contain within them the magic of the artist and of his Andalusian land. Olmo’s dreamlike masterpieces contain human warmth that has an unsurpassable way of working their way into the hearts and minds of his collectors. Leon Olmo and his son Leon Reina make up a father and son painting...

Pommes et raisins - Impressionist Still Life Oil Painting by Jeanne Baudot

Located in Marlow, Buckinghamshire

Signed impressionist oil on canvas still life by French painter Jeanne Baudot. The work depicts a bowl filled with red and green apples and grapes. Signature: Signed upper left Dimensions: Framed: 33"x29" Unframed: 26"x22" Provenance: By direct descent from Jeanne Baudot to her godson Jean Griot Jeanne Baudot's father, Emile, was doctor to French artist Auguste Renoir's relatives when they lived in Louveciennes. In 1893, she met Auguste Renoir through her cousin Paul Gallimard, an art collector. Renoir travelled from his studio in Montmartre to meet the aspiring painter and give his opinion on her work. Renoir was so impressed with what he saw that soon she became his only pupil. Form 1897 to 1914, she lived at 4, Rue du Général Leclerc in Louveciennes, where Renoir had his workshop. She became the godmother of Auguste Renoir's second son, Jean Renoir, at the Saint-Pierre de Montmartre church, while Georges Durand-Ruel was the godfather. Throughout her life she stayed close to Jean Renoir, who became a film director. He wrote the preface of the exhibition catalogue of her retrospective in 1960 at Galerie Durand-Ruel. Auguste Renoir painted several portraits of Jeanne Baudot. They became great friends, accomplices and confidants. They painted side by side, in the studio of the painter, in the studio of Jeanne and outside, in the countryside, in Louveciennes, in the South and elsewhere, chatting cheerfully. He gave her advice, and shared his own concerns, such as those caused by his talks with the representatives of the State to make them accept the paintings bequeathed by Gustave Caillebotte. Maurice Denis painted Auguste Renoir and Miss Jeanne Baudot in 1906. Jeanne Baudot was a childhood friend of painter Julie Manet, the daughter of Berthe Morisot and Eugène Manet, and appears in many instances of Manet's diary. Her name was given to a street in Louveciennes. Lifetime Exhibitions: 1905, Paris, Salon d'Automne. 1906, Paris, Salon des indépendants. 1925, Paris, Salon des Tuileries. 1930, Paris, Galerie Dru from November to December 1930. 1950, Paris, Galerie Durand-Ruel, from April 28 to May 15, 1950. Vintage Spanish Fruit Still Life Oil Painting Large Kitchen Wall Art Mediterranean Tabletop Interior Decor Canvas Painting Artist: Antonio Tarraso (Spanish, born 1946) Title: Bodegón de frutas Date: circa 1990 Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions (image): Height: 65 cm (25.6 in); Width: 81 cm (31.89 in) Dimensions (framed): Height: 77 cm (30.31 in); Width: 93 cm (36.61 in) Signature: Signed lower right Condition: Good overall condition with minor age-related surface marks visible Frame: Frame included Origin: Spain Style: Traditional Mediterranean still life painting Period: 1990–1999 Subject: Fruit still life composition with melon grapes apples ceramic bowl Elegant Mediterranean still life composition featuring grapes, melon and apples arranged around a traditional ceramic bowl and tableware elements. The painting combines classical studio arrangement with warm tonal harmony typical of late 20th century Spanish still life painting, creating a strong decorative presence suitable for dining room, kitchen or hospitality interiors. Its large horizontal format and original frame make the piece immediately display-ready and particularly effective as a focal wall artwork. Traditional fruit still life paintings remain among the most versatile interior artworks for collectors seeking warm European atmosphere pieces. This composition follows the long European still life tradition shaped by Spanish masters such as Luis Meléndez and later Mediterranean studio painters working with structured tabletop arrangements and luminous fruit surfaces. The balanced grouping of ceramics and fruit echoes the decorative realism widely developed in Spanish studio painting during the late 20th century. Antonio Tarraso is a Spanish painter known for traditional Mediterranean still life compositions and decorative interior-oriented oil paintings. His work reflects the continuity of the classical fruit still life genre within modern Spanish studio painting. fruit still life painting kitchen wall art painting dining room wall art painting large still life painting spanish still life painting mediterranean still life painting vintage fruit painting...

"Untitled" Albert Heckman, circa 1950 Modernist Colorful Still Life With Fruit

By Albert Heckman

Located in New York, NY

Albert Heckman Untitled, circa 1950 Signed lower right Oil on canvas 24 x 30 inches Albert Heckman was born in Meadville, Western Pennsylvania, 1893. He went to New York City to try his hand at the art world in 1915 after graduating from high school and landing a job at the Meadville Post Office. In 1917, at the age of 24, Heckman enrolled part-time in Teachers' College, Columbia University's Fine Arts Department to begin his formal art education. He worked as a freelance ceramic and textile designer and occasionally as a lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In the early 1920s, at the age of almost 30, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia Teachers College. He was especially impacted by his instructor at Columbia, Arthur Wesley Dow. After graduating, he was hired by the Teachers' College as a Fine Arts instructor. He stayed with Columbia Teachers' College until 1929, when he left to attend the Leipzig Institute of Graphic Arts in Leipzig, Germany. Isami Doi (1903-1965), who was born in Hawaii, was arguably his most impressive student at Columbia. Doi is now regarded as one of the most prominent artists hailing from Hawaii. Heckman became an active member and officer of the Keramic Society and Design Guild of New York in the 1920s as part of his early commercial art career. The Society's mission was to share knowledge and showcase textile and ceramic design exhibits. In 1922, Heckman married Florence Hardman, a concert violinist. Mrs. Heckman's concert schedule during the 1920s kept Albert and Florence Heckman apart for a significant portion of the time, but they spent what little time they had together designing and building their Woodstock, New York, summer house and grounds. A small house and an acre of surrounding land on Overlook Mountain, just behind the village of Woodstock, were purchased by Albert and Florence Heckman at the time of their marriage. Their Woodstock home, with its connections, friendships, and memories, became a central part of their lives over the years, even though they had an apartment in New York City. Heckman's main artistic focus shifted to the house on Overlook Mountain and the nearby towns and villages, Kingston, Eddyville, and Glasco. After returning from the Leipzig Institute of Graphic Arts in 1930, Mr. Heckman joined Hunter College as an assistant professor of art. He worked there for almost thirty years, retiring in 1956. Throughout his tenure at Hunter, Mr. Heckman and his spouse spent the summers at their Woodstock residence and the winters in New York City. They were regular and well-known guests at the opera and art galleries in New York. Following his retirement in 1956, the Heckmans settled in Woodstock permanently, with occasional trips to Florida or Europe during the fall and winter. Mr. Heckman's close friends and artistic career were always connected to Woodstock or New York City. He joined the Woodstock art group early on and was greatly influenced by artists like Paul and Caroline Rohland, Emil Ganso, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Andre Ruellan, and her husband, Jack...

In 1921 they purchased a home at 318...
