About the Item
My interest is to reinterpret elements of the classical arcadian landscape paintings of the 17th and 18th century, inviting the viewer to reflect again at the sublime, in relation to the negative impact of human’s activity on the planet since. My reference comes from my long daily walks, through the woods, following a river that periodically leads out into several lakes along the way. The first and last light, in particular, transform these private little places into magical havens, where the trees meet the water as the sun rises or dips behind. It's my constant effort to try and capture this exquisite, elusive and vaporous light.
Louisa's interest is to convey elements of the classical arcadian landscape paintings of the 17th and 18th century, inviting the viewer to reflect again at the sublime landscape of the past, in relation to the negative impact of human’s activity on the planet since.
