About the Item

This archival pigment print of Nick Pedersen's photo-illustration "Remnants of Time" is framed, and part of a small edition of 5. The print measures 15.5in x 22in and ships in the pictured 20in x 26in wood frame. Artist Statement // Ultima is a body of work that is deeply rooted in environmentalism, showing my concern for the future by depicting the ways in which mankind’s creations have an impact on the planet. Primarily it is about the modern conflict between the manmade world and the natural world, and between modern and primitive cultures. I portray this as an epic struggle and in my work these forces clash in theatrical, post-apocalyptic battlegrounds. My goal with this project is to create striking juxtapositions between the ruins of modern civilization and a futuristic ecological utopia. The narrative progression shows a rediscovery of these remnants belonging to the conceivably forgotten past. Bio // Nick Pedersen is a photographer and illustrator originally from Salt Lake City, now living and working in the Philadelphia area. He holds a BFA degree in Photography, as well as an MFA degree in Digital Imaging from Pratt Institute in New York. He has shown artwork in galleries across the country and internationally, recently including the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, the Museum of Russian Art, the Slingluff Gallery, Bastardo Gallery, and Copper Palate Press. His work has also been featured in numerous publications such as After Capture, Beautiful Decay, Juxtapoz, Hi-Fructose, and Empty Kingdom. In the past few years he has also completed Artist Residencies at the Banff Center in Alberta, Canada and the Gullkistan Residency in Iceland. "Indecision" Hand Cut and Hand Woven Photographs by Jason Chen
By Jason Chen
Located in Philadelphia, PA
This piece is an original artwork by Jason Chen titled "Indecision". It is made of archival pigment prints from the artist's photography that he cuts and weaves together by hand. The piece measures 16”h x 12”w and ships framed in the pictured 18.5”h x 15”w frame. In 2012, Jason Chen shifted his long-running focus on dry plate tintypes to a new process: photo weaving. Chen began using two separate images of the same person, then wove them together in a process exploring time, movement, process, and mutation. He has exhibited works in the series one by one over the years, but in Fragments, his 2015 solo exhibition at Paradigm Gallery, a full collection of these works were on display together for the first time. Bio // Jason Chen is originally from Guangzhou, China. He received his BFA in Animation from the University of Arts in 2008. Jason is a Philadelphia-based photographer specializing in Fashion, Editorial, and Alternative Process Photography...
