Medium: original lithograph. This lithograph was printed in 1958 for the "Improvisations" portfolio, published by the Artists Equity Association of New York on the occasion of the 1958 Spring Fantasia Masquerade Ball at the Hotel Astor. Leading artists on the New York art scene were invited to contribute original lithographs in the form of advertisements for businesses sponsoring the Artists Equity Association; these sponsors gave the artists complete creative freedom of expression.
This impression was printed on tinted laid paper in an edition of 2000. Size: 12 x 8 1/2 inches (305 x 218 mm). Not signed.
Condition: the left edge of the sheet has been trimmed.

Bertram Goodman
Bertram Goodman, American was born in New York in 1904. He studied at the School of American Sculpture from 1923–24 and at the Art Students League in 1925. Goodman has been the recipient of numerous awards: First prize watercolor, Screen Publicists Guild, 1946; Purchase prize, Abraham Lincoln Gallery, 1947; Joe and Emily Lowe Prize, 1956. He is a member of the Artists Equity Association of which he was Director from 1955–56; Brooklyn Society Artists and American Society of Graphic Artists. His work is in the public collections of the Brooklyn Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, as well as at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., Abbott Laboratories, Chicago and the Butler Art Institute, Youngstown, Ohio. Goodman has exhibited extensively in one-person and group shows including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The painting, Evolution of the Book at Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx was commissioned from the artist around 1936 by the Board of Education and the WPA/FAP.
