Embroidered textile painting Hand sewed, unique, hand-signed by the artist Penelope or Parque of modern times, Barbara d’Antuono sews by hand like others recite mantras and decides nothing in advance. She lets images arise without any particular coherence with each other, but to which she gives substance in a kind of urgency, in the form of a strip not drawn but sewn. The exhibition, like the eponymous book, covers seven years of this assiduous and patient work through nearly 30 textile works, real freeze frames made of the emotions and memories of the artist, like so many portraits of humanity. . Her meeting in Haiti with Baron Samedi...

Graphite, coloured pencil and collage on paper Signed and dated on the back Unique work In Geneviève Seillé’s works, the word reigns in master. It fascinates her for its own appearance and becomes an esthetic entity in itself. When she was a child, she experienced an intense pleasure to hear the sound of the nib filled with ink on the paper. Later, she tried to experience this feeling again while creating. Since 1995, she started inventing her own words and was led by her mental fascinations. Lines and colours melt symmetrically and repeatedly. She leaves no place for emptiness. In the mysterious zone of creation, full of improvisations and chaos, she entirely fills the space with all sorts of signs and collages and it all harmonizes in the end. She offers a vision of creatures, invented anatomies and words that fit together and show a new way of seeing, fascinating and dizzying. Geneviève Seillé was born in France in 1951. From 1970 to 1977, she taught in primary and secondary schools in France and England. In 1981, she graduated in Fine Art (BA) at Wolverhampton Polytechnic. From 1979 to 1988, she worked on performances as Le Banquet & Le Jardinier...

Armenia

By Julian Nemethy

Located in Saratoga Springs, NY

Julian Nemethy, Steamboat "Armenia" on the Hudson River Oil on canvas, Overall size is24 x 38 inches Julian Nemethy’s Steamboat "Armenia" is a masterful example of American folk art painting, celebrating the rich history of 19th-century Hudson River steamboat travel. This vibrant oil on canvas captures the iconic paddle steamer Armenia in motion, its sidewheel churning through stylized waves beneath a dramatic sky. With meticulous attention to detail, Nemethy evokes the golden age of river commerce, blending historical accuracy with artistic charm. The painting’s composition features hallmark elements of Americana: the steamboat’s ornate structure, billowing smokestacks, and patriotic American flag signal a proud moment in New York’s transportation heritage. Autumnal trees and a distant riverside building anchor the scene in the Hudson Valley, making this work especially resonant for collectors of regional art and maritime history. Nemethy’s folk art style—characterized by flattened perspective, decorative surface treatment, and narrative clarity—echoes the traditions of 19th-century ship portraiture and itinerant painters. His use of bold color and rhythmic patterning enhances the visual storytelling, making Armenia a compelling centerpiece for any collection focused on American riverboats, steamboat paintings...

By Gerard Cambon

Located in New York, NY

Gérard Cambon was born in 1960 in Toulouse (Fr). He has a degree in political science and is a self-taught artist. In the earlier years of his life practiced and experimented with collage and model making. Later, with an interest in old machines and patinas he started collecting old and used objects, tools, and fragments of items whose previous lives remained obvious. When he travels, one of his greatest pleasures is to find materials in antique shops or ironmongeries. In 1994, he began creating Locomobiles and reliefs and presented them to the public for the first time at “La Jeune Peinture,” a Parisian art fair. In 1995 , he stayed during 8 months in the hospital for eight months (leukaemia) where he began preparing and creating plans for new Locomobiles and reliefs. As his health improved, he committed himself to his artwork and during the same year met a Parisian gallery owner who decided to organize a solo show for him, Le Galerie Beatrice Soulie in Saint Germain des Pres. He has shown his work since 1996 in Paris and since 2000 in the United States (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle). He is currently being shown by galleries in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg , Denmark, and the United States. He keeps on trying out new materials (fabric, leather, glass, plants, metals,…) that he integrates into his bas-reliefs: traction engines...
