Melora Griffis’ “toy boat” is an unframed 16 x 12 inch acrylic and pastel work on paper

scraps of paper, old wooden toys, discarded pencils with labels worn, used shell casings, obsolete maps

with a red base, and depicts a sea captain in a boat. Whirligigs were creatively used to keep unwanted

swimming and paddling, playing with a toy boat and fishing on a river, playing tennis and cricket, hiking

left of the work. Also on the terrace are a toy boat and a straw boater, items that not only stand in
