This handsome Spanish trunk was crafted circa 1780 and features a domed wooden frame clad in hand-stitched leather, richly decorated with large and small brass nailheads in a rhythmic, geometric pattern. The ornamentation reflects the cuero claveteado tradition, an iconic technique of Spanish and Spanish Colonial craftsmanship.
The hinged lid opens to reveal a divided wood interior, originally intended for storing valuables or personal effects. Original iron hardware, including strap hinges, lockplate, and key, remains intact (lock not working however). The exterior displays a deep, timeworn patina with softened edges and natural surface wear that speaks to over two centuries of use.
Measuring 20.5″ wide × 10″ deep × 13.5″ high, this antique domed trunk makes a striking decorative accent, perfect for a console...
