While this was a success, the company decided to sell its typewriter business to Standard Typewriter Manufacturing Company. That company continued to use the Remington name until it changed to Remington Rand after a merger. In 1955 Remington Rand was purchased by Sperry Corporation but continued to produce typewriters until the Sperry merger with Burroughs in 1986.
