Contemporary abstract geometric artwork by Miriam Loellmann, wood framed, unique
By Miriam Loellmann
Located in Rio de Janeiro, RJ
"Infinity" (Gesso Painting p9) is part of Miriam Loellmann's Gesso Paintings Series, which she is working on since 2020/22. These calm and delicate works of art are made of small plaster cubes that are molded over days and weeks; dried in the sun, then waxed and polished by hand, to make the surface of the cubes even smoother and softer, before being arranged on a "wooden canvas" to create a geometric composition. The cubes have slightly varying heights, creating a light and vibrant movement on the surface of the artwork. The first works in pure white plaster were made in 2017. In 2020, Miriam Loellmann began using pigments and developed a technique for casting plaster so that it looks painted. This is why the artist refers to them as "gesso paintings“ (gesso = plaster in Portuguese). Material: plaster, wax finish, in whitened wooden frame Size: w 49 x h 65.5 x d 4 cms, (w 19.29 x h 25.79 x d 1.57 in) Weight: 5kg Year: 2024 Signed on front and backside The artwork is easy to hang. The purchaser gets a certificate of authenticity. About the artist: Miriam Loellmann is a Rio de Janeiro - based visual artist who focuses on using and combining different, often contrasting materials to create geometric compositions. Since 2012 she has been developing elaborate, handcrafted processes to create vibrant artworks with her own style and technique. Initially, she concentrated mainly on haptic perception and experience, creating site-specific artworks that emphasized touch. Through these works she developed an interest in visual perception, space and movement, while still intending to stimulate touch indirectly. Born in 1985 in Southern Germany, she grew up in a family with a strong artistic streak, where creative expression was a daily practice and was constantly encouraged by her parents and siblings. Painting and crafting have always been a natural way for her to express herself. Miriam Loellmann studied Textile and Surface Design at the KHB Weißensee Art School in Berlin. Masayo Ave...

Sarah Sze Images in Debris Limited Edition Print
By Phaidon
Located in New York, NY
Archival pigment print on Moab Entrada 290gsm Measures: 23.75 x 18.75 in 60.3 x 47.6 cm Edition of 100 This work is signed and numbered by the artist, (2016) Images in Debris depicts time lapse photographs of the sky, taken by the artist, at sunrise and sunset. The images, captured digitally, are then printed via a 4-color screen printing process. Each color separation is screen printed and then smeared while the ink is still wet, foregrounding a handmade process that involves tactility, registration, wetness, and specificity of touch. The images of the sun at dusk and dawn are at once universal and highly specific, recording a period of time on a particular day and in a particular place. By objectively recording the images and then breaking them apart and putting them back together, Sze explores the fragility of time passing and our desire for intimacy and touch in the face of both overwhelming natural forces and the ubiquitous images that surround us daily. Sarah Sze...
