The object is both functional barware and sculptural design, with the globe appearing suspended within the transparent mass like an optical illusion or captured planetary form. Alessandro Albrizzi, an Italian designer active in the international design world of the 1960s and 1970s, became known for sophisticated Lucite furniture, barware, and decorative objects associated with jet-set interiors and the glamorous modern taste of the period.
