Original oil on canvas painting of two nudes by the well known french artist, Andre Beaudin. Signed top left and dated 1936. Condition is excellent. Framed under glass in what appears to be the original frame. Overall framed measurements are 15.75 by 12 inches. Provenance:Jacqueline Rea (see label verso last photo).
André Beaudin (born February 3, 1895 at Mennecy and died June 6, 1979) was a painter, graphic artist, designer and sculptor French belonging to the School of Paris, whose work followed Cubism.
André Beaudin studied from 1911 to 1915 at the l'École des Arts Décoratifs. In 1919, he married, and in 1922, he met Juan Gris, who become a lifelong friend and who encouraged his artistic efforts. He was also influenced by Matisse.
In 1937 Beaudin exhibited at the International Paris exhibition, and the following year participated in the L’Art Français Exhibition in Buenos Aires. By the 1940’s he had established an international reputation and held major solo shows in Dublin, 1947; New York and Zurich, 1949; Berne 1953; Stockholm, 1956; Maison de la Culture du Harvre, 1962; Chicago, 1967; Milan, 1970; Grand Palais, Paris, 1970.
