American
The female-owned Andrea Claire Studio is making innovative strides to create eco-conscious, modern lighting that is sustainable, sculptural and wholly unique in design.
The studio was founded in 2011 in Brooklyn, New York, by American architect and artist Andrea Claire. She was inspired to create her lighting line after years of working with famed architect Frank Gehry, architecture and design firm The Rockwell Group, and the late acclaimed installation artist Vito Acconci.
Driven by a love of art and architecture and an eco-conscious ethos, Andrea Claire Studio uses renewable materials such as mouth-blown glass, bamboo veneer and hand-cast porcelain in their chandeliers and pendant lights, wall sconces and floor lamps.
Claire, an avid surfer, draws inspiration from the ocean in many of her lighting fixtures. The Pisces lighting collection, for example, came to fruition after she observed the movement of glowing kelp blades in the deep blue depths of the sea off the coast of Malibu. The line’s individual pieces are named after iconic surfboard designers — the Hilbers chandelier is named for Brian Hilbers, the McTavish chandelier is named for Australian surfboard guru Bob McTavish, and the Malcolm and Jacob sconces honor the Campbell Brothers Surfboards brand.
The influence of modernist Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncusi is also evident in the studio’s Sublimation-Thorn collection, which comprises glass shades, ellipses, stone blocks, thorns and spheres. Claire’s own inventive “polyhedron” geometric shape also features in pieces such as the Cassiopeia, Galaxy and Sunflower mobile chandeliers.
Since its inception, Andrea Claire Studio has amassed an A-list clientele, including MGM and Rosewood hotels and renowned interior designers such as Jean-Louis Deniot, Nicole Hollis and Elizabeth Bolognino, to name a few.
In 2017, Andrea Claire Studio expanded to the West Coast, opening a design and production studio in Los Angeles, California.

About Pisces
Pisces is perhaps Andrea’s most personal collection to date. An avid surfer whose ideal morning involves riding the waves in Malibu, she channeled the ocean’s fluid rhythms, sunlit hues, and sculptural contours in designing each of the fixtures. But her inspiration dives even deeper and surfaces even more specifically. Alone on the sea with her board, Andrea observed the mesmerizing movement of glowing kelp blades through the deep blue water. She thought about how the presence of kelp is a sign of a healthy ocean. An idea began to take shape. Back in her studio in Los Angeles, she brought her vision to life, choosing smooth, floating brass and undulating aqua-colored fiberglass to echo the textures and colors she had admired, and she and her team carefully engineered the elements to flow seamlessly around each other, wave-like.
Even the fixture names, which honor iconic surfboard designers, hold special resonance for Andrea. The SM.V1 Luminaire is a genre-defying small size fixture with 3 radiating brass arms, hanging at a slight tilt, like a soul-surfer riding a wave.
Gently balancing on the arms are 1 or 2 coral inspired decorative cast porcelain shapes called “clouds”. Each cloud comes in standard bisque or coral red finish, or they can be special ordered with hand over-glazes to achieve variegated color and texture.
There are 3 hand-blown glass diffusers with Opal & Alabaster, created to represent the white water of cresting waves. Special order glass can also be finished with three rolls of glinting silver leaf, or Opal and Grey Venetian optic twist.
The SM.V1 has a customizable diameter of between 26”-32” and it is the small-sized configuration in the Cloudbreak Luminaire Collection. This fixture is ideal for smaller dining tables, kitchen islands, bedrooms, and dressing areas. It's great in combination with the other configurations in the collection for a more impactful statement. It’s unique textures and sea inspired themes will make any space feel special and elevated.
Named after Fiji’s famous “Cloudbreak” surf spot, this collection takes cues from the wild colors and shapes of the corals that create these incredible waves. Our cast porcelain clouds mimic the ends of the Stylaster species of coral, which is common in Fiji. The glass diffusers reveal swirls and white-water like patterns and the sea themed etched metal completes the flow of an otherworldly interplay of texture, light, and shadow.

Cloudbreak ASYM V1. et. oak is a mobile fixture with one-of-kind finishes and textures. It is part of our Claire Concepts category, an evolving exploration in lighting that concentrates on the unique and experimental.
Named after Fiji’s famous "Cloudbreak" surf spot, this collection takes cues from the wild colors and shapes of the corals that create these incredible waves. Our cast porcelain clouds mimic the ends of the Stylaster species of coral, which is common in Fiji. The glass diffusers reveal swirls and white-water like patterns and the sea themed etched metal completes the flow of an otherworldly interplay of texture, light, and shadow.
The ASYM.V1 has 3 radiating brass arms hanging at a slight tilt, like a soul-surfer riding a wave.
Brass arms, stems and canopies are patterned with a sea inspired etched drawings, hand drawn by Andrea. Etched brass is offered in a Tamarind Patina or in a Natural Waxed finish.
Gently balancing on the arms are 1 or 2 coral inspired decorative porcelain shapes called “clouds”. Each cloud is hand glazed multiple times by Andrea to achieve the desired color and texture.
There are 3 hand-blown glass diffusers with Venetian optic twist Grey or Opal & Alabaster. Representing the white water of cresting waves, each piece of glass is finished with three rolls of glinting silver leaf.
The ASYM.V1 has a customizable diameter of between 37 to 43” and it is the largest configuration in the Cloudbreak Luminaire Collection. This fixture is ideal for dining tables, bedrooms, sitting rooms, and dressing areas. It’s unique textures and sea inspired themes will make any space feel special and elevated.
