Andrée Bars Art

Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for four years by the American hyper-realist painter Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th-century master’s skills from his professor, Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. She still applies these ancient master’s techniques on her art. Each painting contains at least three layers of oil paint. Bars apply her skills of hyper-realism on surrealist ideas. Although her paintings copy the reality to the extreme, they can not be qualified in a simple term of hyperrealism nor of Trompe-l'œil style, her artworks distinguish themselves for a kind of mysterious sweetness they convey to the spectator.

“Narcisse”, Contemplative Figure Red Beige Velvet Fabric Symbolist Oil Painting

“Narcisse”, Contemplative Figure Red Beige Velvet Fabric Symbolist Oil Painting

By Andrée Bars

Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Titled "Narcissus" and by Andrée Bars, this oil on linen canvas painting captivates with its introspective tranquility and intricate detail. The artwork features a young person draped in a richly textured golden coat with deep red accents, lying beside a reflective surface on a wooden floor. The thoughtful pose and downward gaze suggest a moment of deep reflection, reminiscent of the mythological Narcissus who was mesmerized by his own reflection. The background is adorned with a sheer, flowing curtain that adds a layer of softness to the composition, contrasting with the solid and tactile textures of the wooden floor. A lone white flower placed near a strategically positioned pocket watch further enriches the scene, introducing themes of beauty, fragility, and the relentless march of time. The use of muted, earthy tones alongside dramatic lighting not only highlights the figure and elements within the painting but also evokes a mood of contemplation and solitude. This painting, through its symbolic elements and masterful execution, invites viewers to ponder themes of self-reflection, identity, and the ephemeral nature of time. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. Named « We lost the North », this symbolist oil painting on canvas represents a great fracture symbolized by a crack in the wood in its middle. Fracture between the world of the finance and the nature. The trap is to always quantify with money and not to take into account the insects and the plants, our planet. Hence the compass on the side of nature, because according to the French expression, "we have lost the North", which means that we do not know where we are going. Andrée Bars is a French painter. "Each Has Its Destiny", Snails in Nature Symboliste Oil Painting

By Andrée Bars

Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Titled "Each Has Its Destiny," this charming symbolist oil painting on canvas by Andrée Bars offers a serene and contemplative view of nature's delicate balance. The composition features three snails navigating their way across a barbed wire fence, set against a backdrop of a lush meadow under a clear blue sky. The snails, each with distinctively colored shells – one brown, one dark, and one golden – symbolize individuality and the unique paths each creature takes in life. The barbed wire, often associated with barriers and challenges, contrasts with the gentle and slow movement of the snails, suggesting a journey filled with obstacles yet approached with patience and determination. The bamboo stalks and various wildflowers in the background add a touch of whimsy and natural beauty, emphasizing the coexistence of fragility and resilience in the natural world. The delicate rendering of the leaves and flowers, along with the meticulous depiction of the snails, showcases the artist's attention to detail and mastery of texture. The painting's soft lighting and subtle color palette evoke a sense of calm and introspection, inviting the viewer to reflect on the theme of destiny and the slow but steady progress each individual makes despite life's challenges. "Each Has Its Destiny" is a poignant reminder of perseverance and the unique journey every being undertakes, rendered with elegance and sensitivity. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. Lotus No. 8 (Realist Still Life Painting of Green lotus leaves and flower buds)

By Frank DePietro

Located in Hudson, NY

20 x 16 x 1.5 inches oil on canvas Painted with the exactness of a still life photograph, this hard edge realist painting by artist Frank DiPetiro of Lotus leaves and buds about to bloom glows with green luminescence against a pale gray background. Inspired by close observations of the natural world and encounters with still moments that give us pause. Lines, shapes and colors encountered in nature, reveal the cycles of decay and regeneration that are life’s constant state of change. The work has a quiet, meditative quality. The subject is portrayed in a manner true to their existence in a specific time and place and selected based on considerations of visual relationships to formal elements of painting. Aspects of photo realism, hard edge and color field techniques are uti-lized to isolate the uniqueness of the subject’s detail, as well as emphasize flatness and illusion of depth within the two-dimensional space of the painting. About the artist: Frank DiPietro was born and raised in Scranton PA. He received a Bachelor of Art from Bloomsburg University in 1997, majoring in both Painting and Ceramics with a minor in Art History. In 2000 he earned a degree in Art Education from Moore College of Art and Design while continuing his studies in painting. White and Pink Peonies in Vase Charles Swyncop Brussels 1895 – 1970 Belgian Painter Signature: Signed top left Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: Image size 46 x 38 cm, frame size 64 x 56 cm Biography: Swyncop Charles was born in Brussels in 1895. Charles was a painter of landscapes, city views, seascapes, still lifes, flowers, children, genre scenes, figures (often Spanish beauties) and portraits. He was also illustrator and lithographer. Younger brother and pupil of Philippe Swyncop. He studied at the Academy of Brussels (1908-1917 and 1919-1920) with as teachers, J. Delville, H. Richir and Alfred Bastien. He also travelled to Rome and Venice. In Rome he studied iconography and the study of the great masters. Also found, like his brother, inspiration in Spain. Like his brother, he painted in a lighter genre. But, unlike his brother, he used subtle, spontaneous brushstrokes such as the French Fauvists. His colourful sea views are reminiscent of the works of Henri Matisse and André Derain. In 1920 Swyncop assisted his teacher Alfred Bastien with the panoramic painting “Panorama de l’Yser”. Other assistant painters were Charles Léonard and Jef Bonheur, also former pupils of Bastien. The work was done in what later became the mosque of the Cinquantenaire Park. From 1924 onwards, it was given a suitable panoramic building in Ostend. The canvas was severely damaged during the Second World War. Charles Swyncop took part in a group exhibition at ‘Maison d’Art Moderne’ in Brussels in 1920 together with Jean Colin, Philippe Swyncop, Arthur Navez, Samuel Milbauer, L. Bisschops, J. Payro and Jean-Jacques Gailliard. He received an honourable mention (third prize) on the Prize of Rome in 1920. In the years 1922-1923 he made study trips to Spain and Italy. There he made portraits of the local population. He regularly returned to Spain. Commissioned by the Ministry of Colonies, he painted decorative panels for the 1930 World Fair in Antwerp. Swyncop was a member of the group ‘La Lierre’ and took part in the annual exhibitions. Other members of ‘La Lierre’ included Alfred Bastien, Julius Brouwers, Louis Clesse, Henri De Clerck...
