Andrée Bars Figurative Paintings

Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for four years by the American hyper-realist painter Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th-century master’s skills from his professor, Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. She still applies these ancient master’s techniques on her art. Each painting contains at least three layers of oil paint. Bars apply her skills of hyper-realism on surrealist ideas. Although her paintings copy the reality to the extreme, they can not be qualified in a simple term of hyperrealism nor of Trompe-l'œil style, her artworks distinguish themselves for a kind of mysterious sweetness they convey to the spectator.

Artist: Andrée Bars
"We Lost the North", Wood Crack, Compass, Money, Flower, Symbolism Oil Painting
By Andrée Bars
Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Named « We lost the North », this symbolist oil painting on canvas represents a great fracture symbolized by a crack in the wood in its middle. Fracture between the world of the finance and the nature. The trap is to always quantify with money and not to take into account the insects and the plants, our planet. Hence the compass on the side of nature, because according to the French expression, "we have lost the North", which means that we do not know where we are going. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. "Each Has Its Destiny", Snails in Nature Symboliste Oil Painting
By Andrée Bars
Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Titled "Each Has Its Destiny," this charming symbolist oil painting on canvas by Andrée Bars offers a serene and contemplative view of nature's delicate balance. The composition features three snails navigating their way across a barbed wire fence, set against a backdrop of a lush meadow under a clear blue sky. The snails, each with distinctively colored shells – one brown, one dark, and one golden – symbolize individuality and the unique paths each creature takes in life. The barbed wire, often associated with barriers and challenges, contrasts with the gentle and slow movement of the snails, suggesting a journey filled with obstacles yet approached with patience and determination. The bamboo stalks and various wildflowers in the background add a touch of whimsy and natural beauty, emphasizing the coexistence of fragility and resilience in the natural world. The delicate rendering of the leaves and flowers, along with the meticulous depiction of the snails, showcases the artist's attention to detail and mastery of texture. The painting's soft lighting and subtle color palette evoke a sense of calm and introspection, inviting the viewer to reflect on the theme of destiny and the slow but steady progress each individual makes despite life's challenges. "Each Has Its Destiny" is a poignant reminder of perseverance and the unique journey every being undertakes, rendered with elegance and sensitivity. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. “Narcisse”, Contemplative Figure Red Beige Velvet Fabric Symbolist Oil Painting
By Andrée Bars
Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Titled "Narcissus" and by Andrée Bars, this oil on linen canvas painting captivates with its introspective tranquility and intricate detail. The artwork features a young person draped in a richly textured golden coat with deep red accents, lying beside a reflective surface on a wooden floor. The thoughtful pose and downward gaze suggest a moment of deep reflection, reminiscent of the mythological Narcissus who was mesmerized by his own reflection. The background is adorned with a sheer, flowing curtain that adds a layer of softness to the composition, contrasting with the solid and tactile textures of the wooden floor. A lone white flower placed near a strategically positioned pocket watch further enriches the scene, introducing themes of beauty, fragility, and the relentless march of time. The use of muted, earthy tones alongside dramatic lighting not only highlights the figure and elements within the painting but also evokes a mood of contemplation and solitude. This painting, through its symbolic elements and masterful execution, invites viewers to ponder themes of self-reflection, identity, and the ephemeral nature of time. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. “The Kindly ones ”, Triple Portrait World Map Doves Symbolist Oil Painting
By Andrée Bars
Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Titled "The kindly ones" and by Andrée Bars, this oil painting on canvas captures a striking combination of realism and fantasy, depicting three female faces gracefully positioned against a serene background. Each face is distinct, offering a different perspective and expression, perhaps symbolizing various facets of human emotion or thought. Behind them, a beautifully detailed world map stretches across a globe, emphasizing themes of global connection and exploration. The atmosphere is further enriched by the ethereal presence of white doves, which are universally recognized symbols of peace. These elements coalesce into a surreal yet harmonious composition that invites viewers to ponder the deeper connections between humanity and the world at large. The overall effect is both captivating and thought-provoking, showcasing the artist's skill in blending the real with the symbolic to evoke introspection and wonder. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Still Life with Mallard and Hare
Located in Paris, IDF
Louis Auguste SECOND, known as FEREOL (Amiens, 1795 - Orleans, 1870) Still Life with Mallard and Hare Oil on paper mounted on canvas Signed and dated at the bottom Exhibition labels in the upper left corner 37 x 27 cm 1854 Louis-Auguste Second, known under the name of Fereol, had an interesting multifaceted artistic career. He was born in an acting environment: himself the son of an actor, he was the cousin of Marie Dorval (the famous romantic actress who was Alfred de Vigny's mistress) and the nephew of Mademoiselle Mars. After having done the military school of Saint-Cyr, he became a second lieutenant in the young imperial guard and took part in the campaign of France in 1814. But he quickly reconverted in the spectacle and becomes in 1817 lyric singer (tenor) at the Opéra-Comique where he officiated until 1838, before exercising his talents at the Théâtre de la Renaissance. He is also a playwright (for example he wrote "Five Years of Intermission" in 1833). A fairly famous figure at the time, his miniature portrait by Paul Gomien was exhibited at the Salon of 1835. Painting is another of his activities, and not the least. A pupil of Xavier Leprince, he exhibited at the Salon in 1824, and this very regularly until 1848. In 1834, he exhibited no less than 7 paintings! These are essentially landscapes, of a fairly classic style, representing views of the North (Douai, Boulogne, etc.), Picardy (Amiens), Paris and its surroundings, Fontainebleau, and above all of Sologne and Orleans, city where he attended high school. At the Salon, he was domiciled in Paris at various addresses in the Batignolles district until 1835, then in Orleans from 1837. Widower in 1832 of his cousin Eugénie Boutet de Monvel whom he had married in 1822, he retired to his property of "L'ormette" in Saint-Denis en Val in the Loiret, before settling definitively in Orléans itself. in 1846. He leads a fairly active social life there (he had already founded the Musical Institute there, for example). His son Félix was born there in 1825, where he was a lawyer before embarking on a career as a doctor. A staunch Bonapartist, holder of the Saint Helena medal, he was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1862. His exaggerated patriotism manifested itself one last time when he committed suicide on September 5, 1870 after learning of the surrender of Sedan. He is the great-grandfather of the brothers Jacques and Pierre Brissaud, the famous painters and illustrators. Representative of the French tradition of hunting still lifes, this painting depicts a hanging...
