Antoni Fałat was born on December 20, 1942, in Warsaw. He was a Polish painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He graduated with honors in 1969 in the atelier of Alexander Kobzdej. He is the co-founder of the Group AUT and the initiator of the artistic movement O poprawę. In the 1980s, he participated in the independent cultural movement. In 1992–96, he was a member of the Culture Council under the President of the Republic of Poland. In 1992, he founded the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw. In 1997, he was awarded the Medal of the National Commission of Education. In 2005, his paintings were exhibited at the United Nations in Geneva and 2017 in the European Parliament in Brussels. Antoni Fałat was shortlisted for Norwid Prize in Fine Arts in 2018. Fałat’s art is associated with the movement of new figuration, is also related closely to pop-art. His paintings are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, Krakow, Gdańsk, the Zachęta Gallery, the Museum in Ghent, Torun, Bydgoszcz, the Pushkin Museum and the Art Institute in Moscow.
