There were a total of only 12 custom patterns ever made by Tiffany & Co.. Charles Carpenter's Tiffany Silver book: "The custom-designed private pattern sets were quite expensive, even for those extravagant times. The time consuming and laborious process of designing and hand making new dies ran the cost of these sets into the thousands of dollars." This pattern features an Art Nouveau woman with foliate bonnet with the owners initials located directly below the woman's bust.
Provenance: Dr. Andrew Jackson Fuller was a prominent surgeon. He studied at the Maine Medical School, at the University of New York, and at Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia. He graduated from the Maine Medical School in 1841; settled in Searsmont, and in 1847 moved to Bath, Maine. Among his successful major operations have been amputation at the hip joint and resection of the humerus. He is a member of the Maine Medical Association and its president in 1871. Previous to the war he served seven years as surgeon of the Second Maine Infantry, and was post surgeon at Bath during the war, saving countless lives. He served as president of the Bath Board...
